Colourfully Stationary, Rye

We decided on a micro trip to Rye today. It was a bit cloudy on the way down and there was even a short rain shower, but by the time we go there it was dry again. It was just after midday by the time we'd parked the car so we decided to go and have an early lunch in a lovely pub called the Standard Inn. We had a bowl of skin-on chips each washed down by a lovely cold pint of beer.
Rye itself was looking very chipper, with a quite a few new shops sprinkled through it's quaint streets. It was also great to see the George Hotel back up and running. It was severely damaged by fire back in the summer of 2019 and only re-opened after extensive restoration in May this year.
When we are in Rye we always visit Rye Art Gallery and I sometimes purchase an artwork if I feel I can afford it. I love ceramics and glass and today I spotted a really beautiful ceramic platter and, after a few minutes of mulling it over, I plunged ahead and bought it. I always think if I'm really drawn to something that is within my budget then I should go for it. They are nearly always unique pieces that in all likelihood I will never see again so I go with my gut and buy them. I never regret it.
It was a very enjoyable trip. Today's image is of a very colourful shop and it's window display at the top end of the town.
