This is some of the best Italian bread available in Upstate New York, USA.
Battaglini is a tiny bakery in Endicott, NY, and it is always fresh and has no additives. I think it makes the best toast ever!
I see that they make rye now, so I will have to take a loaf home when I head back to New Jersey on Tuesday.
Bread is the subject of great controversy in the area where I grew up. Arguments over many local bakeries have resulted in broken families and grudges.
The locals take their bread as seriously as their spiedies, but that's a topic for another blip.
I love the bread in the red bag. It's a slice of heaven on earth, and tastes like home.
