Lift Bridge
We got a late start for our 10 hour road trip to Houghton, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. We did not arrive at the campsite in Baraga State Park until nearly midnight, so we had to put our tents up in the dark. It started to rain 15 minutes after we finished, and the showers continued most of the night.
We spent the morning visiting the Michigan Technological University campus in Houghton where my nephew will begin his studies in a few weeks. After that, we explored downtown Houghton and had lunch.
We ate in a small park overlooking the Keweenaw Waterway. I photographed the nearby Portage Lake Lift Bridge that connects the cities of Houghton and Hancock. Built in 1959, it is the only bridge of its kind in Michigan.
