Trapped!
This picture is from the lower part of Canterbury Castle looking out from what was the prison.
Actually I'm using a lot of poetic licence here. The lower floor was originally a cellar. Later it became a prison but the window we see was probably cut much later, and the iron door with its lock are modern. So is the tree. But I hope you still get the drift...
In the later part of the nineteenth century the whole castle was used as a coal and coke store with a huge water reservoir tank too.
