Maud: Are you asleep yet?

Pud: Yes.

Maud: Oh. Okay

There is a pause, just long enough for Pud to drift towards sleep again.

Maud: Pud?

Pud: I'm asleep.

Maud: Oh. Okay

Big sigh

Pud: What?

Maud: Nothing.

Pud: What?

Maud: It'll wait

Pud: Tell me

Pause.

Maud: It's going to sound silly now.

Pud: WHAT?!

Pause

Maud: Who was the dog in Lassie?

Pud: Are you taking the absolute wotsit?

Pause

Pud: Are you?

Pause.

Followed by snoring from Maud...

Off to work to see a show this afternoon and my brother and his family are coming too...then some supper.
