Tarraingt
Tarraingt /green rope is a performance installation by William Bock. He is inviting the local community to craft a giant rope by hand, made only from wild plants growing along the Ilen river. Over the course of the Fragments in Constellation exhibition and with the help of many hands, the rope will slowly extend from the marshes , over the Ilen river, through the O Driscoll buildings and into the Main Street.
A busy and arty day. We skyped with our house sitter-to-be bright and early - she's currently in Melbourne but will be returning to Ireland in a fortnight. She's Irish but went back backing yo Australia 20 years ago and stayed and is now thinking of coming back. She seemed really nice.
Then on to Skibbereen which is enjoying its Art Festival. Cheeryoscuro was at this yesterday and I can confirm that the dog is not part of the installation. I liked this rope best. I especially liked how it snaked out of the door and across the river. I also liked the smell - like freshly mown hay. There was also another very good exhibition in Uillinn Gallery - huge sculptural works made from strips of paper, the extra is a close up of a massive dangling piece. Hedonists that we are, we then went on to Schull where there was another exhibition we wanted to see.
And should you be gluttons for punishment you can see the results of the interview at the holy well here - giggles not terribly subtly cut!
