Miss Brandy
Firstly I’d like to say a big thank you to you all for your messages of condolence regarding the funeral yesterday. For those of you that were not aware, Della, my husbands sister, had been fighting bowel cancer with such strength for over a year and finally lost her epic battle. However this was not before her husband had a totally unexpected heart attack 4 days prior which I think just tipped her over the edge. She had been in hospital for a few weeks and wasn’t very well at all.
They were such a prominent couple in their village with Andy being an ex-army musician who started a town band and a town choir, both who performed beautifully at the service. The coffins were walked along the high street with lots of people present to pay their respects. When they reached the war memorial, the cortège stopped whilst the band sergeant major from Andy’s former regiment played the last post. It was incredibly moving and there were plenty of tears before we even got to the church. The service was just perfect and was attended by over 250 people which was quite overwhelming. Such a popular loving couple who were taken too soon and will be sorely missed by many. A fitting tribute.
Today’s blip is just a quick one of a new dahlia for me this year, the first time I’ve tried them, called Miss Brandy. I really like it.
Hopefully I’ll be back into the swing of things shortly and back to reviewing all your lovely blips and commenting. Sorry for not really being around for the past month. It’s not been the best time for us all.
