Curious But Respectful
Occasionally we get someone on the water who spooks the wildlife, usually unintentionally, but mostly people do their best to cause as little disturbance as possible. There are a lot of people on the water the last few days with the terrible heat we're having, mostly with paddle boards or canoes. I think the heron enjoys the attention.
I spent the better part of the last three days at one doctor's office or another -- the big three: the neurosurgeon, the cardiologist and the pain management specialist. They were either each having bad days or I was because I came away with three very unpleasant experiences. One prescribed yet another drug and proposed a sleep study which seems totally unrelated to my problems; one actually asked me "well, what do you want me to do" to which I replied, "you're the doctor, you tell me", and the neurosurgeon's approach was the exact opposite of of what the pain specialist recommended, and they're both in the same medical office. I suggested they confer and see what they could come up with to which the reply was "I'll see if I can track him down". If I didn't think it would be considered the epitome of foolishness I would dispose of all 7 drugs that they have collectively prescribed and take my chances.
It's times like this that I miss my husband and his comforting hugs so much. I firmly believe he is enjoying his version of heaven which would be flying a P-51 Mustang in a bright blue sky through puffy white clouds. I wouldn't want to disturb him but I'm secretly hoping he might do a quick fly-over of my apartment. I'll know when he's there.
