Take a look at ourselves

After 'The Moon' appeared at St John the Baptist Church during lockdown, artist Juke Jerram now brings us Gaia.

This installation is especially well timed as the scientist who devised the Gaia Hypothesis has just died at the age of 103. Here is his obit in The Guardian.

I first came across James Lovelock at school. His idea that The Earth is a self regulating system made a lot of sense to me. At the moment we are the biggest threat to Earth's existence, so it will try it's best to eradicate us. I remember when we discussed this in the 1970's we reckoned the smallest of creatures would provide the greatest risk to us as a species. You can't get much smaller than a virus.

More of my pictures from the church.
