Sausage Roll Watching

A day off work for me so we went for a morning walk at Emsworth. Merlin knows the routine of us stopping at the bakery for Andy to buy a sausage roll. He knows if he is good, he gets a few little bits for himself. Here he is, waiting for his tasty morsels.

Afterwards we paddled in the sea. Merlin was intrigued by the light on the water and the ripples along the surface. He stood taking it all in and watching children splashing at the water’s edge.

After lunch he had a wash - in the garden with lavender shampoo! It’s good to get the salt and pollen off his skin. He doesn’t usually like the experience but with the warmth today, and some gentle coaxing from his mama, he did find it quite enjoyable - a cheeky grin appeared on his face as I chatted to him as he was shampooed and rinsed!

Afterwards I spent a few hours at the allotment. Strangely perhaps, for the time of year, I was shovelling horse manure onto some of the beds from which the crops have been harvested and are ready to rest until the winter or next spring.

The day has been rounded off with a homemade spinach and feta tart for dinner.

Hoping your day has been kind to you too.
