Mab’s Cross House
An imposing Georgian building on the hill leading out of town, the old A49 Roman Road to the North.
It has gone through many uses, and is now divided into flats, this being one of the side doors, but I love the curves!
My sister will be very familiar with this building.
Incidentally, it gets its name from the old stone ‘pilgrimage cross’ which once stood outside and where Lady Mabel Bradshaigh walked to in penance for abandoning her husband, a knight of the crusades, whom she believed dead.
