Victorian Postings
Today I parked up in Windsor Great Park and walked via the Long Walk into the town to "do the tourist thing". I was on the search of flowers for Flower Friday, but there weren't many of interest around. Instead I found this Victorian post box next to the Guildhall and a typical "parks bedding" scheme, which will do.
Most people will be saying "Why isn't this red?", but this is actually the original colour of boxes when they were introduced in the 1850s to blend in with the landscape, but by 1884 they were painted their now distinctive "pillarbox red" to increase visibility. This one is a 1988 replica of an original 1866 Penfold design.
