Summer of 69
I’m fairly certain that was what we were playing when Mrs C took the picture. Having finally ditched the cable between my bass and the amp in favour of a wireless setup, I was able to join the others on the dance floor last night for our mega extended (we were probably about five minutes in at this point!) outro to Mr Adams’ finest, leaving just the drummer and keyboard player holding the fort on the stage.
The first set wasn’t brilliant as we weren’t allowed to sound check because we had to be quiet whilst the bingo was on. You can tell it was a classy venue! Consequently, we spent the first few numbers trying to get the sound right. Finally sorted something acceptable and managed to get people up on the floor by the end of the set. Second set was a lot better, with ever increasing numbers on the dance floor - that’s if they could find space amongst all the assorted musicians who had wandered off around the room! I am a definite convert to wireless technology.
The late start did, of course, mean a late finish, and it was nearly 4am before I made it into bed. I was not looking forward to a PT session only a few hours later, but it wasn’t too bad. Having a rest now before heading out to Manchester to see George Thorogood and the Destroyers. The fact that our tickets bear the date “27th July 2020” gives you an indication of how long we’ve had to wait for this concert. On the plus side, I don’t think we’ll be as late to bed tonight, even factoring in the journey home!
