Avenue Verte, Day Six: Gournay-en-Bray – Bray-et-Lu

First stop was Saint-Germer-de-Fly, after some confusion when the alternative route of the Avenue Verte, via Beauvais, tried unsuccessfully to hi-jack us with its shiny new signs. Undeterred, we stopped for some coffee and very fine pain au raisin and tried to buy Springsteen tickets on our phones in the shadow of the Abbey. We had a lunchtime picnic of baguette and Neufchatel cheese by the castle in Gisors before pressing on, through very pretty farmland and via another ex-railway line, to Bray-et-Lu, where we were booked into a posh, chateau-like  hotel. We had a wander round the village, visiting the Superette and the cemetery, before a long, multi-coursed evening meal – the chef ‘suggested’ a load of stuff; we weren’t sure what we getting until it arrived but there was a lot of it and it was all lovely…
