Hyssop
Two years ago we planted a selection of herbs in a wooden trough. This one is pink Hyssop. This year it has a mass of flowers, which make it attractive to bees and butterflies. It has a range of medicinal and culinary uses and has been used as a fragrance in some body-care products and cosmetics. Traditionally it has been used for respiratory and digestive problems and is apparently mentioned in the Old Testament. Research suggests it may be effective in destroying cancer cells, though this has not been fully tested and investigated yet. I am not sure we have ever used this herb in cooking. It can be used in salads, meat and fish dishes, and fruit pies. Perhaps something to try.
