Red Backed Shrike & chick

We spent quite a lot of time this afternoon trying to spot the chick who has been making a lot of noise for at least the last ten days. Suddenly we were aware that the sound was coming from a different area of the garden. Then a Red Backed Shrike came into view with its chick. How exciting as we’d only just recently seen the bird in this area, and our garden, for the first time. Turns out they’ve been nesting in our garden!

We met friends late morning to take the cable car up to Les Chaux for some local wine tasting. Great atmosphere. There’s is a lot going on in the build up to National Day tomorrow, I think everyone is making the most of it as it hasn’t been the same for the last few years.
