Yarrow

I made an emergency trip to the local supermarket to pick up a few things I couldn't get yesterday (empty shelves!), and took a short walk round the adjacent open space, all that is left of the garden centre and nursery which used to occupy the site before they built a small housing estate and retail area on it.

There is a tiny fenced off area in the centre set aside for "nature conservation" with a couple of ponds. It had been looking rather sad in the last few years, but today half has been devastated by a wildfire and the rest overgrown and the ponds completely dried out.  Perhaps once we get some rain and the burnt out areas regenerate it will improve, and signs that the burnt fence has already been replaced are encouraging.

The remainder of the site is mainly meadow grass with wild flowers teeming with butterflies.  I have always like the architectural shape of opening yarrow flower heads, which seemed appropriate for a mono treatment (especially as my current breakfast read is on fine-art photography).
