Hiking haiku
We hiked through dark woods,
swished in wheat fields, clambered becks,
braved alarming cows.
Day three of holiday and my watch says 9.26 miles walked and 40 flights of steps climbed. Phew. Ben is like the Duracell bunny! He was up at 4:20 too :-/ Ben's Dad and brother went canoeing in the morning whilst we went up towards Melmerby fell. In the afternoon we went out again, covering even more ground. Highlights were the surprise sausage roll I had packed for Ben to eat at the summit of our morning walk and rounding the corner after walking through a farm this afternoon and coming head to head with a field of cows which I politely, if alarmingly, addressed with a high pitched "Oh hello" and did a acrobatic side step. They proceeded to follow us along the fence in a very unnerving way until they were all bunched at the corner of the field. Mr KCNQ2Haiku thinks they thought we had food, I think they thought we WERE food!
