Determined Dad

What's happening this week for my Mum, in the hall, near the clock with the day and date. Clever idea actually & stops Mum from constantly asking the same questions that she can't remember the answers to.

The list reminds Mum that tomorrow is her 51st Wedding Anniversary. Soooo, we all spent some of the afternoon looking at the photos taken 51 years ago tomorrow, mostly black and white but some colour prints carefully stuck into albums using those sticky corners and each overlaid with that opaque protective paper. How things have changed!

My Mum can still tell the tale, albeit with a lot of gestures, facial expressions & pointing, rather than words, of how my Dad was a VERY keen ardent suitor. However she had several admirers and eventually decided he was not the man for her, & finished with him.

Characteristically, he took absolutely no notice, and was there to pick her up from work (she was a teacher), as usual the next day, as well as the next, and the next, until he "wore her down" and she agreed to marry him.

He was as determined then as he is now to do the best for her.
