Sacramento cannon
This perfectly preserved cannon was salvaged from the wreck of the Sacramento, a Portuguese man o' war ship that sank off this coast in June 1647;. It was salvaged by two local divers in 1977
'There is an interesting story attached to the wreck of the Sacramento for the survivors, of which there were around 70, set off up the coast, their destination a port in Mozambique from where they trusted they would get a ship home.
The distance they planned to cover was 1 400 km and the crew only started out 10 days after the wreck. Needless to say, by the time they reached Mozambique, few had survived."
Coda is somewhere in the background of the photo- she had a short walk here today. I had a much needed hairdressing appointment, followed by a walk around the house with the painting contractor who will be painting the outside of the house next week.
Ending off with a wonderful music concert by our local Organ and music society this evening - an evening of organ, piano, singing, violin and flute music, all most uplifting.
Thank you for your kind comments, stars and favourites yesterday for my 3000th blip yesterday- much appreciated.
