Mourning Dove
We had a heat advisory today, and the temperature reached 93°F (34°C) by noon. It was so hot and miserable outside that I did not want to go walking. This Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) showed up at the feeder, so I did not have to venture far to find my subject for today’s blip. Severe thunderstorms came through the area this evening. The high winds and heavy rain caused a lot of damage. There are more than 100,000 homes without power, and many roads are flooded. My property seems unharmed, but I will need to check more closely in the morning when I can see better.
