Common Blue
Travelled up to Oxfordshire for a few days to tidy up my late father's garden. The drought has meant that much of it is parched or dead so its mainly a case of cutting things down. In between gardening the spaniel and I went for a walk on Watlington Hill where there were a surprisingly large number of Common Blue butterflies. My blip is of the female which is almost identical to the Brown Argus apart from the dusting of blue scales near the abdomen. I also saw my first Silver-spotted skippers of the year, but they were constantly on the move and I couldn't get a photograph of one.
