From 1700s the number of corn wine distilleries grew strongly in Delfshaven. In 1856 their number had expanded to thirty-seven distilleries and malting. The raw material for this industry - Malt - was built in ground spot mills. Thus on the edges of Delfshaven appeared eight mills, most of which were malt mills. The first windmill "Distilleerketel" was built in 1727.
