Kettles Yard, Cambridge
Today I went for the Induction Session for Front of House Volunteers at Kettles Yard. I am really excited about getting started. It is such a unique place. Volunteers have the chance to undertake a number of interesting tasks. This book will help me fill in many details of the place's history. I'm really looking forward to getting started in the coming weeks. I really think I made the right decision not going to volunteer at Audley End. This feels so right!
When I came home Jack and I watched the Ken Russell 1972 film Savage Messiah which tells the story of the French artist Henri Gaudier Brzeska who died during the first world war at the age of 23 years. Kettles Yard contains one of the largest collections of his works and was credited at the end of the film. Helen Mirren played one of her first film roles which included a lovely nude scene....so there was something for everyone!
