Hippogriff
We had a Flumlet day today and, after several other activities, took him to see the Chris Rutterford mural in Colinton Tunnel, which so impressed us when we visited it. We had prepared the way by reciting the poem, 'From A Railway Carriage' by Robert Louis Stevenson, on which the mural is based, in advance so were able to pick out the various references, however Chris's humour shone through with more topical features, such as the Hippogriff, which the Flumlet immediately identified from Harry Potter, and thus becomes the main picture.
At the opposite end of the tunnel is Stevenson himself, surrounded by drafts of his well-known works, one of my favourite sections of the mural, so that is the extra photo. From here he let off steam in the playpark in nearby Spylaw Park until time to set off for home.
During the day we had eschewed an animal line-up but concentrated on making another knitted toy, a bearded dragon - he acknowledged that this pattern was 'a little too complicated for him' so it's my task to finish in my 'spare' time.... We re-created our chromatography experiment comparing the coloured components of different fibre-tipped pens, we played a few games, including a new favourite, the stick fight with Mr Flum; sadly our old hazel-sucker sticks are now all broken ( the contorted hazel was removed a few years ago, so they were very brittle in the first place) and we need to restock somehow before the next fight. (I must point out that no injuries result from this game).
Anyway he seemed to have enjoyed himself and was delivered home in good humour and, I suspect, an early night.
