Puttenham

Our golf society played at Puttenham today.  I did extraordinarily well In the first nine holes and not quite so well on the back nine, but finished a creditable 4th out of 17.

I have no idea what this is!  It seems to have a solar panel on some kind of area on an old concrete plinth with chains that seem to be celebrating Queen Victoria!

The Queen did come and watch some of her soldiers playing near the second hole in 1858 (40 years before the golf course was built) which might provide a bit of a clue, but I'm pretty sure they didn't use solar energy at that time!
