Being Dealt A Gammon Hand, Aylesford
The pain and swelling in my right hand, if anything, got even worse today so I went to the doctor's to see if they would look at it for me. However, I didn't get past the receptionist who said I should go to A & E. She was so charming (not)!
My ever loyal and kind brother took me to the hospital up the road where I was greeted by yet another grumpy, and frankly, quite rude receptionist. After a wee bit of a wait, only twenty minutes or so, things got much better when I saw the triage doctor. She was lovely, friendly and reassuring. I was then sent to the minor injuries clinic and, again, after a short wait the doctor there diagnosed acute inflammatory arthritis in my hand. I've been signed off work for a week and given a course of tablets to take to try and bring it back under control. It's still very painful and I'm having to do everything left handed, including typing this, because my right hand is basically a swollen red claw at the moment. The only other thing that really helps is to ice it on a regular basis every couple of hours with a bag of frozen mixed veg!
My brother took today's image of me as I found it very hard to hold my camera for any period of time. He made me laugh, which was a great distraction, by calling it my gammon hand!
The extra is the only shot I managed myself today and I had to straighten it a lot in photoshop!
