Gull in the rain

Wet first thing, and this gull came poking along the balcony, knocked over the temperature sensor we keep out there, then posed.  Google suggests it's a yellow legged gull, lack of yellow legs not withstanding, but some of you may know better. 

Optician visit late morning; there's a useful new grocery opposite it on Viewforth. Bought biscuits and cheese to take with us for an afternoon visit. Out by the railway path. We were early, so explored the area just beyond Ashley Terrace; there's an abrupt transition between late Victorian tenements and 1960s bungalows. 

Back by the canal, where we watched a big auger making foundation holes, and an attempt to insert rebar into a hole which resulted in bent rebar ..
