Egg laying

A warm sunny day perfect for a trip to a local nature reserve with 28DegreesNorth after a short sprint cycle class.  We had a great time there as it is fairly extensive with many small pools so lots of potential for dragonflies, butterflies and other insects.  There were also very few people wandering around, the largest numbers being a group of cyclists visiting the cafe.  We did see a several different  dragonflies and butterflies but not in any great numbers.  The land is not surprisingly fairly dry and parched given the current weather.

I had a choice of images so the main blip is a female Emperor Dragonfly depositing eggs on the plants in the water.  In the extras are a Red Admiral butterfly, a pair of dragonflies and a Green Woodpecker.

A lovely day out.
