Day 116 of 365 - St John the Baptist Church!

Welcome to day 116 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)

The original photo was taken this afternoon. It is an image of St John the Baptist Church taken from the rear of the building. The Church is located in the City Centre area of Coventry and dates back to 1344, when it was built on land given by Queen Isabella. The church was closed in 1546 during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in England started by King Henry VIII during his rule. The church was used as a prison for the Royalist prisoners during the English Civil War. It is now said that during this time the prisoners were treated quite coldly by the people of the area, which gave rise to the saying 'Sent to Coventry'.

The building is is a Grade I Listed building and is number 2 on my list of 19 (Grade I) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App 645 PRO for iPhone and saved as a TIFF file before any editing. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.

First of all I used PhotoToaster to edit the image. The edits were made by applying the Park Slope filter then sharpening the image and boosting the saturation. Finally I used the App Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Cole overlay and the Lade Texture.
