Home at last

We got the cats back today!  The day started fairly smoothly, we got up early, packed the car, feliway-d the travel boxes and strapped the cats in and were away before 9am.  I got a bit emotional when mum and dad said goodbye to the cats (who they have done a sterling job of looking after for a year) and again when their neighbour came round to say bye and feed Shep.  Unfortunatley for us Shep is staying with mum and dad as she's a bit old for epic car journeys, but I think that the neighbours will be glad as she seems to be a bit of a local celebrity!

The rest of the day didn't go as smoothly.  We got back home with no problems, then realised we'd left a key in the lock of the front door. We've never had one of those door which locks automatically behind you and made a rookie mistake.  P waited for the locksmith whilst I ran into Hamilton to hand in the keys for the rented house and get a few bits in town.  Luckily a local locksmith sorted us out and got us in the house, and replaced the lock so that the same thing wouldn't happen again.  The main drawback was the cats having to spend an extra couple of hours in the boxes which they weren't pleased with.

All worth it to have the cats snuggle up on the sofa with us in the evening again though, we've missed them.
