Still green
The communal garden is still green and shady. I did a lot of cleaning today, and then D and I sat outside for a while. There were two large picnic parties going on, but the flower garden (a tennis court, long ago) is nearly always quiet.
I was reading Charles Lamb, and he mentioned sassafras tea, apparently popular back in his day. I’d never come across it here, but as children we used to dig up the small roots and chew them.
I watched some of Don Pasquale on the Met channel last evening; I haven’t seen it before.
