Misty
The new addition to our family, she is 12 weeks old, and we got her yesterday from a local person. He had 4 black ones and didn't want much for them, just a good home. When we came to pay him he knocked down the price because he said he could see she would have a good home with us. So day one she spent all afternoon inspecting every inch of the room then decided to inspect us and then settled down purring happily.
Sometime later we decided to introduce her to Tanzy and vice versa, wrong move, should have left it for a few days. She hates Tanzy and I have the scars to prove it. I said I would hold her whilst Paula brought Tanzy in, well she took one look at Tanzy and she spat and snarled and growled and tried to get out of my arms after biting my finger and I sustained quite a few scratches in the process of letting her go. Poor Tanzy she only wanted to sniff at her, So back to the process of getting them to accept each other. (hopefully) I have never had any trouble in the past with cats meeting dogs for the first time but this one is not going to happen yet.
Today she has explored upstairs, helped Paula on her PC then sat beside her on her chair for the rest of the afternoon. All in all she is her cat now I am just the food provider and litter tray mucker outer.
Paula got a cat because we have had quite a few sightings of rats around, they come for the bird food, ( we wouldn't put rat killer down because we don't kill wild creatures whatever they are, everything has a purpose in life, rats clear up human garbage) and so she said although it will be a few weeks away of course, hopefully the presence of a cat will dissuade them and the way Misty chases and attacks things she could be right. Although I don't want her to actually kill them there will of course be the odd one that bites the dust.
We are lucky with having the conservatory Tanzy spends most of the day in it anyway watching for rats or digging holes under the Euonymus bush where she thinks they are, just because she once saw one there. So we can keep them apart, then we switch them round so Tanzy can be in the lounge or the porch waiting to terrorise the postie when he comes.
Another lovely day with no rain. Hope you have all had a nice weekend
