Tunnel Vision
Visited the Blickling Estate for a walk in the woods on the way home today - but first we walked over to the house to try out something I'd been wondering about for a while, whether it was possible to see inside the famous yew hedges. We don't normally go there as dogs aren't allowed into the formal gardens behind the house, & obviously the house itself is off-limits. Anyway, thanks to JohnRH's instructions it was quite easy to find the passageway which gives a view into the interior. Probably should have taken a bit more time & care with the exposure, & taken a tripod instead of relying on resting on the iron fence, but I did get a view down both hedges. The more usual view of the hedges is given in the extra.
Note: the first known record of the hedges was in 1745, & they weren't newly planted then - that's an impressive amount of work to keep them in shape!!
