How now, Brown Cow?
I hadn't intended to spend all day with camera in hand, so only went as far as Waverley Abbey, a few miles from Farnham in Surrey.
Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian abbey in England, founded in 1128 by William Giffard, Bishop of Winchester, but dissolved by Henry VIII in 1536, and today only its ruins give any indication of the original scale and splendour of the site.
Dodging the showers, I took a few (100+ !) photos intending to play some more with my new HDR software, but was struck by this image of a brown cow and her suckling calf, with second looking on. The outline of the group, with the backlighting, is exactly echoed by the remains of an abbey wall behind.
