Curious

The Royal Society of Edinburgh is hosting a series of events this month, entitled Curious. This evening we attended a talk on the History of Insulin, given by Professor Mirela Delibegovic from Aberdeen Cardiovascular and Diabetes Centre.

She explained that, although the diabetes condition had been recorded for thousands of years, the trigger that initiates the disease has not been identified. The discovery and identification of insulin came as  a breakthrough for diabetics, and has been used for the treatment of Type I diabetes for 100 years.
