Tiffany water lily lamp

To day I went to the Tiffany Exhibition at the Saatchi gallery in Chelsea. It was an interesting exhibition with lots of information available on an app which you could listen to with headphones as you went round…or indeed without even going to the exhibition! It was very very crowded so it was difficult to read all the printed information unless you wanted to proceed at snails pace. Some rooms were less crowded which I preferred including one with several Tiffany lamps. The lamps were I think my favourite part of the exhibition as so many of the jewellery items are very ostentatious with sooo many diamonds, not to my taste. There was none of the current modern Tiffany jewellery , you have to go to a shop for that.
This lamp was from 1900-1910 made in the Tiffany Studios in New York. It shows a clever use of perspective in evoking lily pads. There was also another lovely lamp based on Wisteria.

I have been to the Saatchi Gallery before for Art exhibitions and really like the actual building and the lovely oak floors. Not today…all traces of the interior of the actual building were hidden by the exhibition designers…lots of dark paint, lighting to make the diamonds sparkle and carpets everywhere ..very different.

Afterwards we went to have lunch in the restaurant with a view at the top of Peter Jones in Sloane Square. Cool and quiet there. See extra. From the restaurant you can see Harrods,  Brompton Oratory, the V &A, the Albert Hall and the Natural History Museum.
