Gottesgnaden (God’s Mercy)

…is a remote hamlet with an old church, consecrated to St. Mary and St. John, and situated on an island formed by the river Saale and a channel with a lock. The main photo shows a restored fresco, I don’t know who is the figure with the halo. The first extra shows the tower, its lower part reaching back to the middle age when the monks conducted a hospital. The second extra shows a part of Neugattersheim palace, not far away, once ancestral seat of the Alvensleben family, in DDR time expropriated and now housing an educational institution.
