On his favourite fell
Some of you will know that our friends Jenny and Dennis (plus daughter, Kate) are having a rough time at the moment. Jenny is in hospital with a couple of fractures. It's hard for Dennis, who has Parkinsons and dementia.
Today, I went to see them with the aim of taking him for a walk. Kate and I were not sure if he would come, but he was delighted to show me the walk he has done on an almost daily basis for over 20 years.
We chatted about the route and about munros he has climbed (he has done them all). It was a beautiful day and there were clear views of the agricultural land around us.
This evening, Julie and I went to see the film, Everything went fine. This is a film about assisted dying. There were only 15 tickets sold tonight but this is a wonderful film. It is beautifully acted, beautifully filmed and handles a very delicate subject beautifully. (The music is good too.)
We went for a swift drink afterwards to discuss it. Do see it if it comes your way.
I loved the fact that the characters were truly 3 dimensional, unlike many a police drama on TV at the moment (enjoyable though these are). The emotions were raw, but this was not a weepy film. Well done to the director.
