Owl Butterfly
This morning we had 5 photographers from a local group come to visit the Butterfly House before general opening times. They thoroughly enjoyed their time with our newest inhabitants and were very generous with their donations too. It was a good job they came in first thing in the morning as by 2pm it was over 45 degrees in there - way too hot for the volunteers so we were forced to close up a bit early. There are discussions ongoing about what to do about Saturday as it is due to be even hotter outside. My vote is to open 9-12 instead......but let's see.
I didn't get too much time with my camera this morning, and am now looking for species that I've not already featured or that are doing something a bit different.
This one is the visitors' favourite, the large Blue Morpho. It flutters about with it's huge bright blue wings twinkling but rarely lands with them open. One day I will capture one, but that day was not today! Here's a close up instead.
Last night whilst I was reading later in the evening, I heard some rustling outside as the patio door was still open. I went to investigate and was thrilled to see the shadow of a hedgehog snuffling the seeds that the pigeons had knocked off the bird table. No shots as it was too dark and we don't have lights outside. But I went to bed with a huge smile on my face :)
