It was worth walking along the coast to escape the crowds at Gullane beach to the quiet sandy beach at Freshwater Haven.  At high tide it is very good for swimming and apart from the two of us we saw only five others swimming there.   While we were in the water we watched a pod of bottlenose dolphins (I think) splashing nearby in the calm water before they swam down the Forth.  I was surprised to find that I had been swimming for 55 minutes but it was lovely and refreshing despite the sea temperature of 14.1c  recorded nearby at North Berwick today.   Extra  The beautiful light on the sea on the way back to Gullane.
