Deer attack!

After planting, protecting and then months of TLC (this year, watering mainly) an inquisitive deer rips out the guard (and 32mm stake) and breaks the tree without actually eating any of it.  They have a destructive curiosity and in the wood they nibble the plastic ties holding guards to stakes and will chew and leave the white tag markers on saplings as well.
