The colour purple
Another hot one! Got all my jobs done this morning, bed prepared for tomorrow’s guests and a bit of cleaning and washing.
Whilst briefly out in the sun I took these shots of the flower heads from the hydrangea at the far right corner of the back garden. They are all on one bush and it’s the only remaining one that was in the garden when we moved in in 1983! It’s a bit hidden and mainly in the shade.
It never fails and is full of flowers of all different hues of purple.
There was a blue one in the centre of the back wall but it died many years ago. Now replaced by a small blue one which is coming on nicely, plus several other small ones. Chris dug the bed out specially for them. All different colours, some stemming from the ones we bought in pots for outside the hall where Grace and John had their wedding reception 9 years ago.
We have 5 pots of red ones, all but one blooming beautifully, in front of the front door. They are all grown from cuttings he has done.
Chris is going out shortly on a memorial set builders night out in Haworth in memory of Rog who, unbelievably, died a year ago today. We ladies who (used to) travel are going for our usual second Friday of the month meal out. We will hopefully be joined later by Corinthian column (Mrs Rog) after she completes her own commemorations with family.
Cheers Rog, never forgotten.
