Newlands Corner

I met a former NHS colleague for lunch today at The Plucky Pheasant. The Plucky Pheasant at Newlands Corner in the Surrey Hills is the sister restaurant of The Dabbling Duck in Shere. We both had sweet potato and feta salad - delicious. The views from Newlands Corner, as the photo shows, are gorgeous. It is a very popular spot for walkers and cyclists,  both pedal and motor cyclists. The Olympics 2012 cycle road race came through here. Another claim to fame is that Agatha Christie's car was found empty and abandoned at nearby Silent Pool in 1926. Her disappearance became a major story. She was found eleven days later in a hotel in Harrogate under a false name. The reason for her disappearance remains a mystery.
