Rangitoto

Tokyo has Mt. Fuji; Auckland has Rangitoto Island.

A 600-year-old volcanic island, a short ferry ride from the city. The volcano is dormant (unlike Mt Fuji).

Rangitoto is part of the scenery in many Auckland views. I took this photo from above Ladies Bay, St. Heliers, on the path down to the beach, but I have taken other shots from this vantage point before.

Just as the Japanese artist Hokusai produced 36 views of Mt. Fuji, all looking very different, I think you could do the same thing with Rangitoto.
