At last

There are butterflies on my Buddleja bush.

This is a Painted Lady. Vanessa cardui.
This is one of the most widely distributed of all butterflies. There are only two continents where it is not found, Antarctica and South America.

It is also well known for its migration patterns. Those in north west England will have come from North Africa. Much research has been done to establish whether they return south to Africa. I believe it is thought that they do so flying at very high levels.
