Thirsty work being a hoverfly

I happened to be standing on the patio near to the bird's water trough. I was rather lucky to watch as the hoverfly gently approahced the water. KI saw a couple of little ripples on the water which perhaps shoed the effect of its imbibing some water. It was late on the afternoon, on a very hot day, probably 32 degrees at the time.
