The Yanks are coming

Back in 1979 Saddleworth was the film location for a film called Yanks directed by John Slessinger and starring a very young and very handsome Richard Gere. Every year since then the area has celebrated Yanks weekend when people dress up in 1940's costume and there are various events such as parades of American army jeeps and fly pasts. It was a bit of a low key affair this year but still busy and fun.
