Splashes.   It has been a day of contrasting weather..  At breakfast time the haar was very thick with visibility barely 100 metres.  At lunch time we ate our sandwiches in sunshine with 19c on the garden thermometer.  At tea time we watched the heavy splashes and a “river” running down the garden path while there were flashes of lightning and loud claps of thunder.  We knew the good weather was likely to break so this afternoon went for another swim. The sea felt warm although it was fairly rough but when we got out the wind made it feel cold so we dressed quickly and did not linger which was fortunate as the first drops of rain fell as we arrived home.  Now the haar is back and more thundery showers are forecast for tomorrow afternoon. The farmers and growers will be happy with the rain provided the plants have stood up to the heavy battering.
