Surprise !

It has been a weekend of butterfly surprises with another monarch and a silver spotted skipper and 2 snowberry clearwings showing up today . The pink butterfly bush is finally blooming and the purple has about 10 flowers on it's 3 stalks!  But the real surprise of the day was the appearance of an eastern Giant Swallowtail- only the second one ever that I've seen. It prefers the pink bush apparently as it was just moving so rapidly from one flower to the next and back again. The poor thing was missing a large square chunk out of the hindwing on one side. You can see the flower through the missing part of the  wing in the extra.
